First book edition. Not first printing. first issue points: title-page vignette has Capt. Cuttle's hook on his left arm; no page entry for the frontispiece and vignette; no quotation marks around "the Party" line 2; p. 14, ten lines up, "aint" has no apostrophe; p.26, line 11 has "fidgetty"; on p.40, "shewed" and "shew" instead of "showed" and "show"; p. 284, fifth and sixth lines from the bottom, "Delight" instead of "Joy". p.324 "Captain" spelled correctly; no adverts at the back. Two Errata lists at back - one a whole page with 6 lines and the other an inset page with 11 lines. Frontispiece, Vingette and 38 plates all present and correct. Binding good and tight apart from back board and ffep. P 494 and 495 - printer's error where page numbers and titles have not printed correctly.
